California is no doubt one of the most beautiful cities in the US. It is known for its success in agricultural production. It is also home to beautiful famous cultural institutions and national parks such as Disneyland, Angel Island, Yosemite National Park, Alcatraz, and Hollywood. So, it is quite surprising that such a city as beautiful would keep losing its residents to another place like Nevada. Still, this is something that keeps happening. Between 2007 and 2016, about 6 million people left California for other states; and in 2016 alone, Nevada accepted over 45,000 people from California.
What then are the benefits that people enjoy in Nevada that might not be derived from their stay in California? Let’s consider a few:
- Taxes: It is great living in a state with an appealing tax payment system. Maybe this is one reason people would leave California for Nevada: the attractive tax system. There is a tax on everything in California, but Nevada has no income tax. People also get to pay less for food and medicine because there is no sales tax.
- Cost of living and housing: The high cost of living in California is probably one reason people will prefer to move to a state like Nevada, where housing is more affordable. While California offers a median home list price of $533,500, Nevada is $324,000. This provides an opportunity to save on utilities.
- Transportation and Traffic: Who wouldn’t want to live in a place that makes transportation easy? Nevada is ranked number one in several categories according to transportation rankings. Nevada is always on top of the game in commute time, public transit usage, road quality, and bridge quality. The same cannot be said of California. The same transportation rankings see California rank number 41 in several categories.
- Economic and growing job market: There is presently a growing job market in Nevada, which has caused people to show interest in the job opportunities that abound there. People from California are also moving to Nevada because they are assured they will get employment once they get there. Experts believe that there is a 41.4% of job growth in Nevada, which is higher than the 34% rate in California.
- Food: What is life without good food? If the quality of food is why people leave a particular state for another, then it is more than enough reason. Nevada is known for its amazing foods. It is one reason people would joyfully leave California for Nevada.
- Entertainment: Everyone knows that Nevada is a state that guarantees premium entertainment. From concerts to shows to sports to shopping, there is a whole range of activities for everyone that is enough to get rid of any form of boredom. This is enough to make people leave California for Nevada.
All these benefits that people enjoy in Nevada are more than enough reason for anyone to decide a change of environment.
